Dr.Ambedkar Govt Law College is one of the leading legal institutions inculcating proficiency in sports & games in India. I am extremely glad to submit the 121st report of the Physical Education Department.
Sports meet was conducted on 2.07.2011 under the auspices guidance and support of the Principal Prof.Dr.S.Narayana Perumal who consented to preside over the meet . Prof K.K.Sridev, Prof.A.Vijayalakshmi Ramalingam graced the occasion. During the meet, Team leaders were selected and resolution was passed as to the number of events to be conducted in the academic year.
Our students participated in The Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University Inter– collegiate Sports meet and won laurels for the College. The Cricket team headed by S.Sathyaraj IV B.L bagged second Place. Our students also participated in various Athletics meet and won Prizes. The details are as follows:

Our students also participated in the sports meet organized by National Law School of India University , Bengaluru, in badminton . S.Sushil Kumar of V B.L., Deepak Narayanan of III B.L and Prithvi Chopda of III B.L won the first place.
Our student A.Vallal of II B.G.L participated in the State Level Boxing Competitions organised at Kudalur,Thiruchirappalli Won first Place and was subsequently selected to compete in International competitions

With the assistance of Metro Railway Limited the sports ground made ready to enable students to actively participate in sports events .The cricket ground and Badminton ground is newly established. This would strengthen the sport spirit among the students would improve the active participation of the students and would encourage them to take up more sports activity Individual talent sport competitions were also conducted during the month of march and April and on 3.04.2012 Athletics meet was organized at Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu. Special prizes were awarded to students who participated and won.
The teaching staff and non-teaching staff also actively participated in the sports event organized on their behalf and prizes given
I whole heartedly thank on behalf of the Physical Education Department for continuous assistance and support rendered by the Principal, Teaching Faculty and non-teaching staff and last but not the least my dear students who had shown their best ability and effort .
The Association shall be called “Dr. Ambedkar Government Law College Athletic Association”.
All the FULL TIME students of the college who pay an annual subscription of Rs.50/- and all the members of the staff are members.
1.To Promote the general standards of the members in athletic, aquatic and the other disciplines.
2.To improve ESPIRT DE CORPS and inculcate sportsmanship qualities among its members.
The affairs of the Association shall be managed by a committee called “The Games Advisory Committee” consisting of the Principal of the college as the president, the Physical Director of the college as the Secretary. One member of the teaching staff and the college team captain in Athletics, Ball Badminton, Volley ball, Basketball, Hockey, Football, Cricket, Table Tennis, Carrom, Chess, Shuttle, Badminton, Kabaddi, and women Students as members. The captains of the teams will be nominated by the Principal of the college on the advice of the physical Director, who in turn will get the consensus of the outgoing captains.
The Games Advisory Committee will meet ordinarily twice in an academic year for the first time, two weeks after the re-opening of the college to adopt the Budget and to transact any other business proposed by the Secretary, and for the second time before the College Annual Sports. Other meeting may be convened by the Secretary, as and when the President so desires.
The Secretary will be responsible (A) to convene meetings and keep a record of the proceedings (B) to sponsor teams for the various inter-Collegiate and Inter-Association Competitions and (C) to conduct intramural competitions in games and sports.
The subscriptions made by the students and the Government grant will be the two main source of income. Expenses will be governed by a set of rules issued by the Director of Legal Studies applicable to all the Law Colleges in the State. Funds will be deposited with the Reserved Bank of India under the Personal Deposit Account and operated by the President of the Association. The accounts of the Association will be maintained by the college office under the direct supervision of the Secretary.
Tennis club can be operated only if there are at least nine members each paying Rs.50/- per mensem in advance. Rest of the amount will be spent from the games fund for its maintenance. Indoor games like Table Tennis, Carrom and Chess are made available from the Common Room Fund.
